Get Five Stars, a local business review company, recently released a case study tracking how new customers were found. It broke down the new customer sources to radio, billboards, general awareness”, Yellow Pages, online reviews and word of mouth.

Word of mouth, whether online or offline contributes 91% of all new sales.

The evidence is clear: If you own a small business, it is better to improve your customer experience than to sink money into local advertising.
