Inspiration is the enemy of creativity

Looking for inspiration? Do you need inspiration to be creative? Let me let you in on a secret: the creative geniuses of the world do not wait around for inspiration to  strike. They have a set schedule, most get up early and they get to work regardless if inspiration strikes or not.

We initially all found our creative spirit by inspiration. The problem is that keep falling back on the same hope of inspiration to maintain creative output. But it rarely works out like that. Inspiration is a rare commodity for most of us. There are countless books and websites with titles like “10 tips to get Inspired Today” trying to solve the inspiration dilemma. They don’t want to tell you that being consistently creative is work. But work is boring and not inspiring. So we keep perpetuating the myth that creative people wake up every morning with a full reservoir inspiration bubbling over. This is a lie and is a disservice to those that want to be consistently creative in their life.  If you are are okay with your artistic endeavors being sporadic and inconstant, wait for inspiration.  For those that have to produce everyday, set a schedule and get to work.
